Subject: MOTOR BOAT OF THE YEAR SERVICE AWARDS 2011

To whom it may concern

As an annual subscriber to your excellent magazine and a regular visitor to your website, I would like to register my vote for the 2011 Service Awards.

I believe that Penton Hook Marine Sales offer the finest level of service available anywhere in the UK and whilst I have been impressed a couple of times by other brokers, dealers and suppliers. I have truly been overwhelmed by the professionalism shown by every member of staff that work at this fine dealership.

Nothing is too much trouble and they have gone the extra (nautical) mile to ensure that our dealings have been an absolute delight, which should be a given in these difficult trading times, but unfortunately other companies let themselves down far too often.

Although we have made a modest purchase with Penton Hook, they have treated us like lottery winners at every opportunity and it was the deciding factor in us placing our business with them.

They are not the nearest provider too us, however I would have no hesitation whatsoever in making an unreserved recommendation for anyone looking to secure any of the services they can provide.

I do hope that they are successful in securing this honour as I feel true service should be recognised and applauded.

If you need any further details please do not hesitate to contact me.

C. Arundel
In April of this year my wife and I bought a new Sealine SC47 from a Sealine appointed broker: Mr Chris Manners of Penton Hook Marine Sales, in Chertsey.

We had initially contacted Mr Manners following the breakdown (on Christmas Eve 2009!) of a deal for the purchase of an identical boat from a competing South Coast broker. The circumstances in which this previous transaction had failed were such that we were very sceptical about dealing again with a broker at all, but as you will know Sealine's policy does not readily permit doing business directly with them as manufacturer.

We spoke with Mr Manners on Christmas Eve, and before the end of the day had agreed terms for the purchase of a new boat, with a delivery date scheduled for end of March 2010. The terms agreed represented a significant improvement on those extended by the previous dealer; the scheduled delivery date was one month earlier than we had been promised in the previous arrangement.

The transaction duly proceeded, with Mr Manners organising the paperwork, payments, factory visits, etc efficiently, and to our satisfaction. Handover of the boat was delayed by approximately 1 week - but we had the impression that a rather longer delay may well have applied had Mr Manners not actively intervened to influence things at the factory.

Handover itself, handling familiarisation, acceptance sea-trial, and all of the multitude of cleaning, snagging, and other matters that inevitably arise in new boat purchase situations were all dealt with, without fuss, or inconvenience to us, by Mr Manners and his team. Since - following some 150 hours of Summer boating, which gave rise to the need for 3 either awkward or otherwise difficult repairs - the after sales service that we have received has been first class.

In an age when it seems we are all ready to criticise agents and suppliers for shoddy performance, it is a pleasure to write a brief note of praise about a service that for us over a period now of 11 months has proved to be faultless. That the company in question is staffed by knowledgeable and competent people, who it seems strive to foster ongoing relationship with their customers, has made our new boat purchasing experience, ultimately, a very satisfactory one.

We very much hope that Penton Hook Marine Sales is recognised in your forthcoming Awards for a quality of service, that sadly is nowadays far from routinely available.

Mr M.K.
